Azure Cost Management Pricing 2026: No Additional Cost for Azure Spend

Microsoft Cost Management is the cost tool built into the Azure portal. For Azure spend, Microsoft charges nothing extra for it. That makes the pricing question short; the real question is what it covers.

Every figure on this page was read from Azure Cost Management's own pricing page, documentation, online store or its own AWS Marketplace listing on 1 October 2026, and each one links to where it came from. Azure Cost Management has not reviewed this page. Nothing here is estimated: where the vendor publishes no number, the page says so. How we source prices.

Where It Fits

For an Azure-only estate in the early (Crawl) phase of FinOps, this is the default and costs nothing. See the free tools guide for its limits and the maturity framework for when teams outgrow native tooling.

How Azure Cost Management Compares With the Other Graded Tools

Every tool graded on our FinOps tools comparison that has a published price or a published free position, with the vendor's own pricing basis. Figures are not normalised to one spend level because the vendors meter different things (spend, cores, resources, runs).

Azure Cost Management Pricing FAQ

Is Azure Cost Management free?

For Azure spend, yes. Microsoft's pricing page (read 1 October 2026) states that Microsoft Cost Management is available to Azure customers and managed service providers at no additional cost, and its pricing table reads 'Free for Azure'.

Which Azure Cost Management features are included at no cost?

Microsoft lists reporting on cost and usage, data enrichment by resource tags, budgets, alerts on budgets, and recommendations to remove idle resources and right-size resources, all provided in the Azure portal for managing Azure spend at no additional cost.

When does a paid FinOps tool make sense over Azure Cost Management?

When you need the same view across more than Azure: other clouds, Kubernetes allocation, SaaS and AI spend, or chargeback across a multi-cloud estate. Microsoft's free position covers managing Azure spend; the paid tools on our comparison are priced for the cross-cloud job.
